Hey Look! A New Pokemon Game! Oh Wait, it's just Zynga. Again.

Zynga has had a few articles in the news this year about possible copyright infringement. Games that closely resemble other games. Most notable is the fight Nimblebit had over Zynga's "Dream Heights" basically copy & pasting their Tiny Towers indie game. EA is also currently suing Zynga over claims that "The Ville" is a clone of Sims Social.
Well, it looks like they might have landed in hot water again. Montopia is a free game on the Android/iOS Marketplaces. A "battle-Monster" RPG, the game has players "collect them all" in order to build teams to fight other players. Sounds suspiciously like another title, Pokemon. "Gotta catch 'em all" is the iconic tag line of Pokemon and the series is based on capturing unique creatures with special elemental/physical/psychic abilities to battle opponents and their Pokemon. Montopia's creatures operate around the Elements of Fire, Water and Wood (might as well just say "Grass" with all the similarities)

A few differences include "fusing" monsters to increase ability effectiveness and to breed new monsters. Players get monsters from Treasure Chests instead of the long grass. And in-game cash can be purchased with REAL cash. How Nintendo will take to this Zynga game, we'll have to wait and see.
