Bioshock Infinite Gets Odd Box Art

Your box art is bad and you should feel bad!
It's controversial. It's different. It's mean-spirited. It's Un-American. The internet has exploded all over the place with comments like these about the American version box-art that features the "All-white, redneck farm boy" carrying a shotgun as an American flag burns behind him. My main issue with it, is that it looks stupid.

I'm sorry to be so blunt, but it is. Look, simplicity is great. Don't go all-out when a small bit is all you need. But if you want to go simple, at least have it relate-able either to the story or your audience. This does neither. They've already shown that it doesn't work showing a flag burning in the background, now the devs have stated it doesn't have anything to do with the storyline.

Then what was the point? Was it the controversy you were after? Was it the internet chat rooms that suddenly turned into radioactive mushroom clouds? Was your concept art guy taking a nap and this is from the underpants gnomes? Seriously, why go with something as bland as this on one of the most highly anticipated games of 2013. I'm thinking someone is gonna be getting a pay cut.

Bioshock Infinite launches February 26th, 2013
