Conroy won't be voicing Batman in the new Arkham Origins
Kevin Conroy is known to many superhero aficionados as the voice of Batman. He voiced the Caped Crusader through the 90′s animated series as well as several animated series and movies that followed. Conroy also voiced the Batman through some of the latest video games. Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, both of which are what Origins is based upon. He also voiced the Dark Knight in the newest DC game, Injustice: Gods Among Us. Conroy has been Batman so often he is even regarded AS Batman.
In an attempt to portray a much younger Batman however, developer Warner Bros. Montreal has decided to not include the voice acting of Kevin Conroy. The gravelly voice of a grizzled veteran we have come to know and love does not convey the hesitant rookie attitude of the much less experienced Batman.
With Mark Hamil announcing he was done voicing the Joker after Arkham City, fans were dismayed. Obviously the Joker could not continue through into future of the Arkham series considering he (SPOILERS!) died at the end, but younger version of the game could still have been a possibility featuring the iconic voice. Will the replacement of Conroy hurt the series? Or will it breathe new life into the World’s Greatest Detective?
