With any major game release, news always gets around of copies being released early. The usual culprits are mom & pop corner stores who don't really abide by street dates. Other times a game will get put out by an unsuspecting employee, leading to a massive surge at that particular store. But overall the majority of the times early sales happen just seem to be a mistake. It appears that Rockstar's newest Grand Theft Auto game has been on the receiving end of such a mistake.
Global retailer Amazon is reportedly in hot water with the infamous game studio, after multiple copies of the game were shipped far too early for what should have been a Tuesday delivery.
"We are in the process of investigating early 'sales' to determine how and why that is occurring," said one Rockstar rep.
Early game leaks have been a problem in recent years, as fans may get told spoilers in the game, ultimately ruining the story and leading to some to reconsider purchasing it. These practices are never going to go away completely, however one wouldn't expect to see Amazon's name tied to this debacle.
